Commercial General Contractor Level 2 (CGC2) license in Oregon

Lets a business bid and perform work in any number of unrelated building trades on small and large commercial structures.

Level 2 covers the same work as Level 1. The difference is the entry bar: key employees with at least four years of combined experience, and lower bond and insurance minimums.

The state minimums are a $25,000 bond and $1 million aggregate in liability insurance. Commercial contractors must carry workers' comp even if the business is in the exempt class.

If you own a building, compare those minimums with what your lease, lender or project requires, and ask for a certificate of insurance. For a house, look for a residential endorsement, since a commercial one alone doesn't cover residential structures.
